Another weekend of battles, this one pitting the latest in a string of films targeting tween audiences against the latest in a reborn puppet franchise. While the performance of the rebooted The Muppets would suggest Muppets Most Wanted has the advantage, the marketplace is saturated with family films and the tween audience may finally jump aboard another franchise. I give Divergent the slight edge as it mines the same dystopian future that made The Hunger Games a blockbuster.

Individual Commentaries

Wesley Lovell: I’m indifferent about most of this week’s films, though not completely against several of them. While the wide releases live a little to be desired, Lars Von Trier has a new film out, so that’s probably your best bet. If you can handle the overt sexuality.
Peter J. Patrick: A little something for everyone this week.
Tripp Burton: It’s an odd week where I am intrigued by every new movie coming out!
