The Cannes Film Festival, one of the most important festivals in the world, announced its full selections list. The festival has long been an Oscar precursor even if a majority of its awards fail to mirror Oscar. A lot of important pictures that become big contenders have emerged from Cannes even out of competition, so it’s always interesting to look at what is coming out of there.

A lot of out-of-competition films are missing from this list, so expect it to be updated throughout the weeks leading up to the 65th festival event (running May 16 to May 17, 2012). Some notable names on the list: Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy, Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly, Michael Haneke’s Amour, John Hillcoat’s Lawless, Abbas Kiarostami’s Like SOmeone in Love, Ken Loach’s The Angels’ Share, Cristian Mungiu’s Beyond the Hills, Alain Resnais’ Vous N’Avez Encoure Rien Vu and Wallter Salles’ On the Road.

There might even be a few more films in competition announced later.

Below is a .pdf with the full list included.
