The number one film for at least two weeks will be Captain Marvel, the latest origin film from the Disney/Marvel universe. There’s little chance that it doesn’t do well, probably topping $100 million on opening weekend. The big question is whether or not the film can top Black Panther, the $700 million (U.S.) juggernaut of last year.

Wesley Lovell (WL): Two Marvel movies breaking barriers in the span of two years. Sounds like fun. Peter J. Patrick (PP): I’m sure it will be a big hit at the box office, but the more of these comic book adaptations they make, the fewer I want to see. Thomas LaTourette (TL): This could be a fun addition to the Marvel universe.

Wesley Lovell (WL): It doesn’t seem like the kind of movie I would enjoy, but might be. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Enigmatic Chinese film doesn’t look particualrly interesting. Thomas LaTourette (TL): This sounds good but slow. Hopefully it will be slightly more upbeat than the trailer, but I am not sure it will be.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I would see it for Julianne Moore, but I don’t have much other desire to see it. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like another tour-de-force for Julianne Moore, but will it be rememebred at awards time? Thomas LaTourette (TL): Some reviews make this sound good, but it looks like a lot of other films about an older woman finding love.
