Several presenters and performers were named this past week for the Academy Awards. Before, I get to those, the final two sets of nominees for the Documentary Short Subject category (previously listed as Nominees to Be Determined) have been announced. Here’s a run down of those press releases:
Sci-Tech Awards
Marisa Tomei to Host Academy’s Sci-Tech Awards®
Beverly Hills, CA (February 4, 2011) – Oscar®-winning actress Marisa Tomei will host the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Scientific and Technical Awards on Saturday, February 12, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Tomei will present 11 awards to 23 individual recipients during the evening.
Tomei won a Supporting Actress Academy Award® in 1992 for her performance in “My Cousin Vinny.” She has since received nominations in the category for her roles in “In the Bedroom” (2001) and “The Wrestler” (2008). Tomei will next be seen in the features “The Lincoln Lawyer,” with Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Phillippe, “Crazy, Stupid, Love” with Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and “The Ides of March” with George Clooney, Gosling and Paul Giamatti.
Academy Awards® for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Zachary Levi, Alan Menken, Mandy Moore, Randy Newman, Gwyneth Paltrow, A.R. Rahman and Florence + The Machine to Perform at 83rd Academy Awards®
Beverly Hills, CA (February 4, 2011) – Eighty-third Academy Awards telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer today announced the artists who will perform the nominated songs on the Kodak
Theatre stage on Oscar Night®.
Gwyneth Paltrow will perform “Coming Home” from the film “Country Strong.”
Original Song nominee A.R. Rahman and Florence Welch, of Florence + the Machine, will perform “If I Rise” from the film “127 Hours.” Rahman is nominated for writing the music (Dido and Rollo Armstrong
are also nominated for the song’s lyric).
Alan Menken, who is nominated for writing the music for “I See the Light” from the animated film “Tangled,” will accompany singers Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi on the piano (Glenn Slater is also nominated for the song’s lyric).
Randy Newman will perform his nominated song “We Belong Together” from the animated film “Toy Story 3.”

Annette Bening to Present at 83rd Academy Awards®
Beverly Hills, CA (February 3, 2011) – Academy Award®-nominated actress Annette Bening will be a presenter at the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony, telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today.
Bening, who is an Academy governor, recently received her fourth Oscar® nomination, for her leading role in “The Kids Are All Right.” She received her first nomination for her supporting role in “The Grifters” (1990) and received nominations for her leading roles in “American Beauty” (1999) and “Being Julia” (2004). Her other film credits include “The Women,” “Open Range,” “In Dreams,” “Richard III” and “Regarding Henry.”

Documentary Short Subject Nominees
Oscar® Credits Determined for Documentary Short Subjects
Beverly Hills, CA (February 2, 2011) – Nominee credits for Best Documentary Short Subjects “Killing in the Name” and “Poster Girl” have been determined by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Credits are as follows:
“Killing in the Name” – Jed Rothstein
“Poster Girl” – Sara Nesson and Mitchell W. Block
Nominees for the other three documentaries nominated in the category – “Strangers No More,” “Sun Come Up” and “The Warriors of Qiugang” – were announced on January 25 and remain unchanged.
