With the July film landscape continuously changing (all of the impending wide releases have been moved into August), there’s just not much to choose fun. What’s most palpable is the sense of dread having a July 4 holiday weekend, especially with most people getting the Friday before off, vacant of new wide releases.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I am friends with the director on Facebook (for whatever that’s actually worth, so I’ve been hearing about this project for some time. Even having that knowledge, the trailer wasn’t very interesting and since I’m not that into war films, it’s not a high priority for me. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a confusing take on a horrific real-life incident involving U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Thomas LaTourette (TL): The few early reviews like it a lot, but it does not seem any more interesting than any other war film of late.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): It could be an original horror premise, but the trailer doesn’t give that impression. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Dullish looking haunted house horror film doesn’t entice me. Thomas LaTourette (TL): Horror films are not my favorite, and while treating dementia as part of it makes for a more interesting tale, the trailer just did not seem terribly exceptional.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): The cast alone could make this worth something, but the trailer doesn’t do enough to support the film. Peter J. Patrick (PP): One to see for its cast but not worth risking death to see in a theatre. Thomas LaTourette (TL): It’s a great cast and could be wonderful, but I have a feeling it is more cute than earth shattering.
