Poster Rating: B-

Review: The blue/purple flare in the poster is befitting the title, but the visual dazzle is only minimally successful. Featuring only the female members of the cast might encourage the male demographic to the theater, but one look at the trailer and much of that interest will be gone.

Trailer Rating: C

Review: There’s hardly a plot to be found. The trailer fails to convey any sense of interst, urgency or power. It may rely heavily on the art house market but even this trailer seems at odds with that style, so this trailer alone isn’t going to pull anyone to the theater unless they happen to be a fan of any one of the stars whom they didn’t realize before the preview was in the film.

Oscar Prospects:

It was supposed to be a big contender last year, but it got pushed into 2008 and early enough that it may not have been the film its marketers were wanting. I don’t foresee Oscar contention status without significant critical support.
