Our coverage of our favorite Oscar moments continue with our fourth issue.

Peter J. Patrick

1974, 47th Academy Awards

Ingrid Bergman wins her third Oscar for Murder on the Orient Express and asks co-nominee Valentina Cortese (Day for Night) to forgive her for winning instead of her.

Wesley Lovell & Tripp Burton

1997, 70th Academy Awards

Tripp: In honor of the 70th Oscars, every living acting winner was assembled on stage and given a small moment of recognition. It was a wonderful few minutes, and a reminder that this is a show about tradition, excellence and honoring the achievements of the past as much as anything.
Wesley: While the feat has been attempted since, the first time will always be the most memorable. I’m referring here to the first Oscar Family Album revealed at the 70th Academy Awards. Bringing together several living acting Oscar winners (including honorary and juvenile awards), the Academy spent a great deal of time and effort alphabetically running through the individuals on the stage in about 10 minutes. The newest four winners were added to the mix at the very end. Of the 134 recipients who were sent invitations, only 70 showed. Bit of Trivia: Doroth Malone’s invitation was not sent due to a clerical error and Oscar refusers George C. Scott and Marlon Brando (who won one that he had accepted) were not invited. For a full list of those present, see the list below.
