Review: (#1, C) For a film called Twisters, having only one is a bit of a dodge. It does remind favorably of the design for the original, but in this day and age, it’s insufficient.

(#2, C) Setting the characters into a field on the outskirts of a storm is suggestive but surprisingly dull. (#3, C+) While it might create a small sense of excitement it also feels like something that the Sharknado producers had put together.

Review: (#1, C+) What the 1996 special effects extravaganza had going for it was its humor-tinged tension. That doesn’t seem to be well executed in the trailer and the effects look about as good as they did with the original, which is worrisome.

(#2, C) There was a perverse charm to the original film and the trailers managed to highlight the adventure and excitement without making the audience feel cheated. This trailer does almost the opposite throwing every bit of nature’s fury porn at the audience without making the plot seem that interesting. It even manages to make its faux-country roots feel tacky and limiting.

Oscar Prospects:

It might earn a nomination for Best Visual Effects or Best Sound, but that’s the extent of his capabilities.
