It’s the battle of the tweens and the geeks with the geeks at a decided advantage with Super 8.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer: If you aren’t a kid, it’s probably best to avoid this one (100%) as will the Academy (100%).
Super 8: We are leaning towards seeing it (75% Likely or better) and we all think it will contend at the Oscars even if the majority believe it will only be in tech categories (75%).

Thoughts The sci-fi geek in me is fighting with the anti-JJ Abrams in me. That this looks more like what Steven Spielberg might make than what Abrams might, I’m leaning on the side of seeing it.	Thoughts Looks like an intelligent sci-fi thriller focusing on kids in the tradition of E.T.	Thoughts This could be a real exciting underdog this summer, or just a real dog. I can’t figure it out.	Thoughts I am a huge fan of J.J. Abrams and this, frankly, looks fantastic. It looks like a throw-back to the early Spielberg pictures of the 70s and 80s and could score nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and a slew of tech nominations.
