Review: (#1, C) Tying well into the first trailer, the poster does some of what it needs to do by harkening back to its predecessors but taps out rather quickly with a simplistic effortless design.
(#2, C+) The original of the events of the film is handled with explosive detail. Not enough unique elements but it’s striking nonetheless. (#3-#6, C+) From the second trailer, these images highlight all the potential ways to die for the characters in it. It also effectively links itself to the concept. (#7, C) While it’s definitely interesting to look at with the faces emerging from the skull, it’s perhaps a little too much like some scenes from Nightmare on Elm Street to feel original.
(#8, B) Taking the skull motif in a more interesting direction, this design features plenty of visual details that intrigue the viewer but those details aren’t sufficient to make this a top tier effort. Credit goes to the artist who made it look so visually pleasing. (#9, B-) This reference to the most famous scene from the first film is an effective tool for fans of the series and the skull design is interesting even if a bit cheesy looking. (#10, C) The Dolby design uses the early skull design but affords no new insights and the double-D blends too much into the foreground image to stand out sufficiently. (#11, C+) There’s something about this logo that conjures up memories of the 1980s. It has a vague VHS-related aesthetic that’s difficult to explain. Suffice it to say that it isn’t likely to have much appeal outside of looking interesting.

Review: (#1, B-) While I’m not a fan of trailers that just take a scene from the film and put it on display for the audience, this effort was surprisingly interesting. Conjuring memories of the original horror film series, fans will be enthused by the continued adhesion to its core concepts even after all of these years.
(#2, B-) While there is more background material in this trailer than the preceding, it still focuses on specific sets of slayings. Between the two trailers, there’s some concern that there isn’t much more than this. What’s more interesting about this batch, specifically the set at the backyard barbecue is that there are a couple of bluffs going on that the viewer things will result in the death but which ultimately don’t…at least not in what we’ve seen. It’s an intriguing effort to set up its creativity and that may be enough to draw an audience.
(#3, C) This short teaser explains the situation to an audience unfamiliar with the prior films in the series. That should tie it well into existing fans but won’t likely pick up new ones.
(#4, C+) Taking cues from the prior trailer while highlighting small elements of other devious trap roll-outs, this highlights the film’s relationship to the original while piquing the interests of fans new and old. It might just help the film become a success.
