Review: (#1, C) Something that almost anyone could design, this effort lacks general appeal, though I’m sure it probably means something to the first film’s fans.

(#2, C+) It’s certainly interesting to look at with details that might not be immediately noticeable but the color scheme is disjointed, the background details are too blurry, and it doesn’t feel like it links with the prior film’s aesthetic. Without feeling like a sequel’s design, it will struggle to bring in audiences.

(#3, C) There’s just not enough here to recommend. The mirror/window motif, while interesting doesn’t add anything visually stimulating to the effort. It’s a rather bland design. (#4, C+) Similar to the second design, this effort has a few more details but never stands out as something compelling.

Trailer Rating: C / C / C+ / B-

Review: (#1, C) Supposing you’re a fan of Talk to Me, would this trailer entice you back to that universe? Possibly. If you’re not a fan, it most definitely will not. Even existing fans will find this trailer’s lack of specificity frustrating, wanting to see something that makes the whole effort seem warranted and/or fun.

(#2, C) A confusing, meandering trailer that tells the viewer that they should expect tons of horror tropes with little necessity. It’s a dull effort that can’t even touch upon its own history to excite fans.

(#3, C+) We’re getting closer to understand what the film is about but are still being left in the dark. The presented images aren’t creating an interest in seeing the film and it’s finally become clear that the film is not a follow up to Talk to Me as it seemed likely from other references and news.

(#4, B-) The first trailers lacked the charm necessary to create the innocence we’re going to see desecrated in the film. This trailer does a better job setting those stakes and making the action seem more interesting than it had previously.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
