There will be a lot of options this week to give audiences a chance to pick something new. Mickey 17 had a solid debut but not enough of one to avoid its possible toppling by either the new Looney Tunes movie or Novocaine

WIDE RELEASES

BLACK BAG

THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: A LOONEY TUNES MOVIE

NOVOCAINE

OPUS

Black Bag

Wesley Lovell: Early reviews are positive but the trailer isn’t good.

Peter J. Patrick: Early reviews have been positive on Steven Soderbergh’s latest.

Thomas La Tourrette: The reviews are mostly good, so this Stephen Soderbergh film might be worth catching.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

Wesley Lovell: The Looney Tunes characters have a certain charm but they aren’t really my thing.

Peter J. Patrick: I outgrew Daffy Duck a long, long time ago.

Thomas La Tourrette: It looks like a fun full length Looney Tunes movie.

Novocaine

Wesley Lovell: A humorous concept but the film looks pretty generic otherwise.

Peter J. Patrick: Painfully unfunny looking comedy.

Thomas La Tourrette: Probably not, though it might prove to be better than it sounds.

Opus

Wesley Lovell: A strong cast could make for an interesting movie but the trailer doesn’t impress.

Peter J. Patrick: Across the board negative early reviews should keep audiences away.

Thomas La Tourrette: It does not look like a good film.

LIMITED RELEASES

THE ACTOR

HIGH ROLLERS

THE WORLD WILL TREMBLE

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: The Actor and The World Will Tremble have potential but High Rollers does not.

Peter J. Patrick: The World Tremble looks like a compelling Holocaust drama.  The Actor looks like it could be a decent film noir.  Forget High Rollers.

Thomas La Tourrette: None of these look that interesting, but perhaps they will surprise us.
