Now that Minecraft Movie has taken a second weekend atop the box office, we’ll see its first real test. Sinners is the most likely contender for the top spot due to its oft-neglected demographic, though Sneaks is also targeting the same demo but younger. Ultimately, I think Sinners will beat out Minecraft and everything else will fill out the top 10.

Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing
Wesley Lovell: Not my style.
Pete Patrick: Even the positive reviews say you need to be familiar with the video game the characters are based on, which I am not.
Thomas La Tourrette: It looks like a bad animated film.
Sinners
Wesley Lovell: It looks like it could be interesting.
Pete Patrick: Early reviews are strong, and I like Ryan Coogler’s previous work, but I think I will still take a wait and see approach to this.
Thomas La Tourrette: It has surprisingly positive reviews so far, but the trailer does not interest me at all.
Sneaks
Wesley Lovell: The art style is pretty awful.
Pete Patrick: Seems like a low wattage Toy Story but could be interesting.
Thomas La Tourrette: This looks to be an incredibly stupid animated film.
The Wedding Banquet
Wesley Lovell: It’s not Ang Lee, so I’m not sure it will be all that good. The trailer certainly supports that trepidation.
Pete Patrick: I loved Ang Lee’s original, but this doesn’t look nearly as good as that was.
Thomas La Tourrette: It sounds fun in concept, but the trailer is lackluster which does not give me much hope for the full movie.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: The Shrouds is an intriguing concept.
Pete Patrick: Cronenberg’s controversial The Shrouds is a strong maybe, but the pseudo-Cronenberg take on Cinderella is a definite no.
Thomas La Tourrette: Both films have decent early reviews. David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds has a possibility of being good though I found the trailer more perplexing than intriguing. The Ugly Stepsister has a good concept but looks too bloody in how it is done for me.
