Review: (#1, C+) The empty black background is thankfully limited. The positioning of the avenger character highlights his small stature in an astute way while the green is glaringly noticeable, which fits the attention-seeking style of the film.

(#2, C+) Leaning into the toxic green coloration this design gives the viewer much of what it needs to understand what the film’s about. There is vacant space but the color scheme helps minimize its impact.

Review: (#1, C+) The cheese factor of the original Toxic Avenger is a rallying point for its fans. This trailer pulls out the stops in trying to evoke that original film’s cheapness but ends up feeling artificially tacky rather than fittingly. It’s certainly interesting to juxtapose that original film’s hulking figure with the version Peter Dinklage is playing. That alone saves this trailer from being utterly dismissible.

(#2, B) An unrated and graphic trailer is completely fitting to this film’s historic legacy and it works quite well. Establishing the elements that made the original film a cult classic while adding enough modern affectations to create some appeal for younger, unaware audiences.
