I have little doubt that the Planet of the Apes origin story will be popular enough to take the top spot this week.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

The Change-Up: It’s another of those R-rated comedies that look like every other R-rated comedy.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes: This is a divisive film for those who don’t expect much from it.
Magic Trip: Not exactly the type of documentary that gets us going.
Mysteries of Lisbon: It could be interesting, but we won’t know for sure until we see it.

How many times have we seen this plot? Every few years, someone thinks they have an awesome twist on the old chestnut and the ultimate result is not that awesome.

Thoughts

A body switching comedy from the writers of The Hangover – no thanks.

After the Tim Burton failure, I was a bit skeptical about this proposed reboot (a prequel to the many films of the franchise), but the trailer gives me hope that I may not be disappointed.

Thoughts

It has to be better than Tim Burton’s remake of the original, but that’s setting a very low bar.

It could be interesting from a historical perspective, but the subject matter is not really of interest to me.

Thoughts

Looks too frantic to encompass Ken Kesey’s many hours on the road.

The only reason I would even consider a film that looks this formulaic is that critics seem to think it’s not, so it could be worth a glance.

Thoughts

It won the Golden Globe of Portugal. Now, I ask, how many of you knew they had Golden Globes of Portugal?
