Review: (#1, C) The overlay to Daniel Day-Lewis’ image is confused. Although it employs the titular anemone in small measure, the almost rainy/foggy effect that flows from it blurs and distorts but not in a visually stimulating way.

Review: (#1, C+) A sibling drama with two solid actors delivering familiar and limp dialogue surrounded by imagery that wants to remind one favorably of Lars von Trier’s Melancholia only exacerbates the feeling of disconnectedness the trailer ultimately generates.
(#2, C) Building on the notion that this is a highly anticipated performance undermines the whole of the film’s premise, which has yet to be conveyed to the audience. There’s plenty of symbolism and arty dialogue but without a sense of what the film wants to accomplish or who it is designed to appeal to, there’s simply no way most audiences will decide to watch the film after seeing this.
Oscar Prospects:
While Daniel Day-Lewis has a good track record and is coming back from retirement for his son’s film, I doubt this particular effort will score Oscar nominations.
