Review: (#1, C) A bit of a cheap looking design for a major studio film. It’s not just an obvious one but one that is so poorly blended that even the least observant could spot the flaws.

(#2, C+) I doubt these images are from the film because they look too staged but the lack of lighting consistency and haphazard organization suggest it was all put together on the backend, which makes it even more disappointing. (#3-#9, C+) While the snake coils are largely unique, the color scheme and positioning are static and make for a rather boring series of designs.

Trailer Rating: B / C-

Review: (#1, B) If you read much about this film, it sounds like a remake of a cheesy 1990s horror film. Once you delve more into the narrative, it becomes something a little more interesting. Not only is it a horror-comedy cross but it’s also a satire and fourth-wall breaking comedy. While Paul Rudd and Jack Black look like they are playing caricatures of themselves, it comes off just well enough to suggest it might be a fun waste of time.

(#2, C-) A mildly diverting first trailer is turned into a monstrous, unfunny quick trailer. It’s got the coloring of a tie-in to Avatar: Fire and Ash but sitting before a film like that needs something more grand and engaging and this was not it.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
