Review: (#1, C-) A film scene that digs into the pink aesthetic of the character but never moves beyond mediocrity. Taking a film scene and adding text is rather lazy.

Review: (#1, C+) A formula that’s been used a lot in recent years, this GLOW-like drama pits a famous boxer against an industry and a family life that challenges her into overcoming them. There’s little in this trailer to suggest that it explores new ground or finds inventive ways to sell its protagonist.

(#2, C) Giving Don King a position in the trailer adds some energy to the narrative, his larger-than-life personality feeling more natural than the cocksure Christy. It’s a boxing biopic in need of a selling point and this trailer simply doesn’t give it, especially not with its poorly chosen and implemented soundtrack.

Oscar Prospects:

There is some buzz about the film out of the festivals but it was limited to Sydney Sweeney’s performance only and even that seems unlikely.
