Three new wide releases and two of them could top Predator: Badlands in its second weekend. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is probably the second-most likely. It was popular once but it’s so far removed from that period that it’s unlikely to do very well. The Running Man, on the other hand, sounds like a major blockbuster opportunity. Stephen King has done quite well in recent production so it shouldn’t be a surprise if this one does well.

WIDE RELEASES
KEEPER NOW YOU SEE ME: NOW YOU DON’T THE RUNNING MAN

Keeper

Wesley Lovell: I need to start at the beginning of Osgood Perkins’ career but it might be worth it.

Pete Patrick: I’ve had my fill of horror films set in a cabin in the woods.

Thomas La Tourrette: I am not a fan of horror films, and this did nothing to impress me.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t

Wesley Lovell: This series started out well enough but none of these films have looked that exciting.

Pete Patrick: I’ve never seen the first two films in this series, but this looks like it could be fun.

Thomas La Tourrette: It could be fun, but will wait until I’ve seen the originals to see this.

The Running Man

Wesley Lovell: Looks like it could be quite fun.

Pete Patrick: Good cast in this remake of the Stephen King opus has my attention.

Thomas La Tourrette: It does look like a dystopian film with a sense of humor. Might be fun.

LIMITED RELEASES
ARCO BUNNY THE CARPENTER’S SON ETERNITY JAY KELLY

KOKUHO MURDER AT THE EMBASSY REBUILDING SIRÂT TRAP HOUSE

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Lots of options but few of them for me.

Pete Patrick: Kokuho, Japan’s entry for this year’s International Film Oscar; the animated Arco; and the George Clooney comedy, Jay Kelly, seem to be this week’s cream of the crop.

Thomas La Tourrette: I will see Jay Kelly and Arco as they are probable Oscar nominees but both could use better trailers. Kokuho I might see for the same reason. Rebuilding and Sirat have strong critics reviews but the trailers do not excite. Eternity shows some promise.
