Review: (#1, C+) This design tries to work on two levels, giving the count a figure but also leaning into the fang motif. Unfortunately, the limited color palette and empty spaces just lend it a sense of incompleteness. (#2, C) It’s nice to see purple used more importantly but the design lacks creative energy or excitement. (#3, B-) A lot of little images to give the audience something to look at while waiting for another movie. The balance and structure are a bit too rigid and there are too few background embellishments. (#4, C) Taking the purple design’s aesthetic and adding background depth but reverting to a tacking white-red-and-black color scheme undoes the advancements. (#5, C+) A few nice details to look at but the limited color scheme, blending the purple and red poorly, ends up making this feel sophomoric. (#6, C) It could be a scene from the film, which is a bit boring or it could be manufactured to put Dracula into his remote setting in which case it’s rather lifeless (and we aren’t talking about the character).

Review: (#1, C+) Luc Besson is known for his style over substance and this muted trailer doesn’t remind the viewer much of his prior output other than literally referencing it. The action is familiar but dull and there’s limited appeal to the concept.

Oscar Prospects:

Luc Besson hasn’t had an Oscar nomination in years and while this film looks to be taking a familiar story and giving it a new life, Nosferatu will be the film to which it’s compared and it won’t likely be a favorable comparison.
