Review: (#1, C+) This metaphorical burial concept is familiar and not as frequently used as one would expect but isn’t terribly intriguing as employed with this design, which at least avoids the trap of commonplace horror color schemes.

(#2, B-) It’s a visually unbalancing design that looks like an attempt at kaleidoscopic fantasy but reminds more of a face card in a deck of playing cards. Either way, it’s a bit disorienting but not entirely unpleasant. (#3, C) Those familiar with the trailer will recognize the figure in the background but in this context, it looks like a mixed medium effort that is modestly creepy but inordinately unappealing. (#4, C) While this gets across the mystical qualities of the film’s premise it has too few details to be genuinely interesting. (#5, C) This might tell the viewer more about the film than the three trailers have. It’s simplistic and thematically fitting but won’t engage the viewer. (#6-#8, B) These individual posters are intriguing in their blend of scenes from the film and a chaotic magical script, each design trying for something completely different and somewhat interesting.

Trailer Rating: B / C / C+

Review: (#1, B) There’s not much to this trailer. The scenes pass quickly so the viewer isn’t sure what the movie is about but they are done with such style and aural creativeness that it’s easy to dismiss its myriad flaws.

(#2, C) The style of the first trailer is utterly abandoned for this kitchen sink-style hodge podge of scenes that nullify most of the tension and suspense that the first trailer cultivated.

(#3, C+) The plot isn’t given much room to shine, we’re just introduced to successively intense scenes that ramp up to a conclusion that the audience won’t quite understand what to do with. It still hasn’t given the viewer an idea of what makes it unique or interesting.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
