Review: (#1, B-) It is trying to go for a design that is atypical of most poster designs while providing minimal details. The sound “waves” across the poster mask the lack of background elements or details. (#2, B-) This effort is a much more traditional design that nevertheless tries to use its available space effectively. (#3, B-) Keeping the piano and safecracking elements to ensure the viewer understands something of the film’s premise without actually explaining it. This and the first poster are reminiscent of the opening title sequence styles of the late Alfred Hitchcock era.

Trailer Rating: B

Review: (#1, B) While the concept is quite interesting and the execution has some intriguing elements, the trailer plays too much like a conventional crime thriller without the sense of urgency or creative energy that might sell it to a broader audience. There are still compelling ideas here but not as well presented as they should be.

Oscar Prospects:

Early buzz is strong for the film but whether it can overcome the populism of being a wide release will need to be seen.
