Review: (#1, C) It’s a simple effort that pulls in the various scenes from the film and gives the skull some depth. Not going with an empty background without the blandness of a single color is a good move but the skull design needed to be far more dominant. That might not give the title room to breathe but it doesn’t need to. Details are more appealing than title design.

(#2-#9, C+) Intending to use the “sensitive content” warning as a reason to blur potentially disturbing images is an interesting way of approaching it and the content are indistinct enough to create a sense of curiosity but I cannot imagine these showing up in a theater.

(#10, B-) Compared to the underwhelming prior efforts, this design looks incredibly intriguing. That said, it still employs the trite black-red-white motif of horror designs even if it has an intriguing use of inset images, eye color changes, and thematic relevance.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C / C- / B-

Review: (#1, C+) Trying to keep the events of the film sequestered behind blurry videos is an interesting way to tease the film. The premise will hopefully be revealed in a future trailer but there’s just enough of a tease here that it could generate some intrigue. That said, it seems like a concept that’s more likely to entice fans of the original horror flick of the same name, the frequently banned cult classic.

(#2, C & #3, C-) These two trailers are identical with two minor exceptions towards the end. The second is supposed to be a red band trailer but the only insertions are a bloody organ and a pair of dead bodies on the floor. Considering the content to that point, it seems odd that these changes would shift the trailer from green to red but it certainly explains why the red band is so underwhelming (and inferior). As to the content, neither does much to excite the viewer other than referencing back to the original cult horror production.

(#4, B-) Once we got information about the plot, the idea become a little more compelling and this trailer gives even more information without completely revealing the entirety of its solution. For horror fans, this should have a lot of appeal but it’s not going to speak to many outside of that demographic.
