Review: (#1, C+) Iconic image with a teaser but it just sits there doing little. (#2, C+) Another reference to the original cartoon with a swinging ball that doesn’t actual look like it’s swinging with a chain that’s not taut. (#3, B-) While the prior two designs certainly made it look like the film was taking place in the real world, this has minimal affectations to create that reference even though it’s a bit busier and definitely ties back to the originals. (#4, C+) A Sisyphean reference to the cartoon characters and Wile E. Coyote’s dangerous pursuit of the Road Runner but it isn’t going to sell tickets. (#5, C+) No real world references at all, this hand-drawn effort doesn’t tell the viewer anything about the film other than its roots, though it does get points for the notice speared on one of the daggers in the upper left. (#6, C) Overbearing and trying to tap into an overused reflective eyeball trope that wants to reference its box office competitor (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) but fails utterly to land. (#7, B) Taking viewers back to the cartoon aesthetics while tossing in the real world elements makes for a solid design that gets across the film’s intent with an overbearing yellow backdrop. (#8, B) Leave it to Dolby to come up with a unique and visually distinctive reference to the characters without note of the live action setting. (#9, B-) That overwhelming white background may force the eye down to the figures in the lower half but only highlights the poor shadow shading job on those images. (#10, B) Fewer aggressive colors makes for a more visually attractive effort. It features the popular Looney Tunes characters in stiff positions alongside human counterparts, which establishes the film’s premise without going for something artistically impressive.

Review: (#1, B+) What a clever concept for a film. Taking a familiar rivalry between Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner and turning it into a legal comedy with other prominent Warner Bros. characters looks like a ton of fun in the spirit of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

(#2, B) The first trailer still can’t be beat with an effort that digs a little too deeply into the lawsuit element and provides plenty of pratfalls and accidents that fit the style of the cartoon series but don’t exactly shout excitement.

Oscar Prospects:

There might be enough animation to qualify for Best Animated Feature but Best Visual Effects is possible if Animated Feature isn’t eligible.
