Review: (#1, C+) Suffused with style but absent of narrative intensity, this poster has so many interesting visual elements to it that it’s rather disappointing how little is actually said with it. The black-red-white aesthetic doesn’t work. (#2, B) On the other hand, this design focuses on style while creating some visual clarity to the figures in the film, positioning Anne Hathaway at the pinnacle and Josh Hartnett at the heart but with Dakota Johnson caught between. It’s an intriguing concept executed well, though the choice of triangular images doesn’t quite make sense.

(#3, C+) An excess of red may help the blue-black title stand out well but apart from the title insets at the base of the design, there’s not enough here to build excitement.

Review: (#1, B) A psychological horror film that looks tantalizing in some regards and confusing in others. Keeping the mystery alive without over-revealing is a positive direction, it just needs a little more detail to round out the intrigue.

(#2, B) Attempting to give more information about the narrative, the designers are clearly trying to stay away from giving away too much information. You can infer a great deal from this trailer without getting any answers and that is likely to generate a sense of intrigue audiences will likely want to experience.
