Review: (#1, B-) Although it uses the standard red-white-black aesthetic of modern horror poster design, the way the car lights reflect off of objects and the figure in the road is quietly chilling. (#2, C+) While there’s something inherently foreboding about the frog-shadowed buildings lining the street and the monolithic skyscraper in the distance, the positioned zombies on the tops of the buildings along the side might play into the premise but look less than unsettling.

Review: (#1, B-) There are moments when the film looks like it’s a spot-on adaptation of the style of Resident Evil and then there are moments of creative energy (like the final scene running through the snow-bound streets) but overall, it feels modestly underwhelming, a film that doesn’t quite understand how to make a first-person video game experience feel more like a cinematic one.

(#2, B-) While not quite as elegant as the first trailer, we get more information about the plot this time around without ruining the suspense. It’s a solid effort that fans of the video game series will certainly find appealing but might not seem too exciting to others.
