Now that Spider-Man has finally been dethroned, we should see a progression of new #1s each week with Resident Evil most likely to take this week’s crown.

Bad Apples

Wesley Lovell: If not for Saoirse Ronan, I would have little interest in this movie.

Pete Patrick: Looks like a minor British film.

Thomas La Tourrette: There looks to be some fun in this dark comedy, but not sure there is enough to justify seeing it in a theater.

Resident Evil

Wesley Lovell: I’m a fan of the video game series, though not of the director. Still, it’s worth the opportunity to see if it does better than the previous series of films at evoking the games.

Pete Patrick: This week’s zombie nonsense. 

Thomas La Tourrette: I am not a big fan of horror and this looks run of the mill. I had seen none of the original series, and do not feel like starting with this one.

Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom

Wesley Lovell: Even if the content looks childish, Aardman animated films are always worth seeking out.

Pete Patrick: Not interested in this franchise.

Thomas La Tourrette: The series is always fun and it might pull off an Oscar nomination, so will see it.

The Weight

Wesley Lovell: Strong actors but an underwhelming concept.

Pete Patrick: Depression era drama seems to be the best of this week’s new offerings.

Thomas La Tourrette: It might prove a decent movie, but the trailer for it just was not as exciting as it should be, though Ethan Hawke looks good in the role.

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: The Musical looks like it could be great fun. The others not so much.

Pete Patrick: None of these holds any interest for me.

Thomas La Tourrette: The Musical looks to be the best of the releases, but that may not be saying much. It has okay reviews and might be worth seeing. Without Blood looks beautiful but early reviews are not kind. Tiny Fugitives looks like one to miss.
