Looking at the Weekend: October 28-30, 2011

Meow. This will be the week of the cats. An animated feature from the makers of Shrek all about one of the coolest characters introduced in Shrek 2. The others don’t stand a chance.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

In Time: Sci-Fi is a highly subjective genre and this film looks it’s going to be too “mainstream”.
Puss in Boots: If you’re a fan of the franchise or animated films in general, this will be your movie.
The Rum Diary: Hunter S. Thompson is an acquired taste, so we aren’t expecting a lot.
Anonymous: Roland Emmerich has never been a director that conjures up the idea of quality filmmaking, but the movie could be his first foray.
Like Crazy: A quiet romantic dramady that may appeal to fans of the genre, but is more likely to please art film fans.

Thoughts It has potential, but there are many other films I would consider before this one.	Thoughts All rom-coms can’t be bad. This one looks like a real charmer.
