The Boston Society of Film Critics divvied up their awards fairly evenly with no film earning more than three prizes and splitting Best Picture (The Artist) and Best Director (Martin Scorsese). Melissa McCarthy gets a decent boost with this prize as does Michelle Williams. Albert Brooks may be one of the few winners this season who picks up a steamrolling set of prizes. And if the last five years show us anything, then Picture, Director, Actor, Supporting Actor and Screenplay winners here will earn Oscar nominations and it’s looking good for an Oscar to Albert Brooks based on their history.
