There are a lot of genre films coming out this weekend, but of them all, I think The Raven has the best chance of overcoming the others.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

The Five-Year Engagement: It’s not the kind of film people who love the Oscars typically care about.
The Pirates: Band of Misfits: It all depends on how good the film is.
The Raven: Will the critics buoy the film or sink it? We’re intrigued to say the least.
Safe: Another mindless action film.
Bernie: It could be quite amusing. A lot depends on how the actors carry things off.

Thoughts Aardman has never steered me wrong (something like Pixar minus Cars 2), so I’m more than willing to check this one out.	Thoughts Looks like it could be fun.	Thoughts The Academy loves the Aardman studio, and this could get them another Animated Feature nomination if it is decent enough.

Thoughts I don’t normally like Jack Black, but it looks like it could be fun.	Thoughts Black comedy in which funeral director Jack Black murders mean old Shirley MacLaine might be worth a tumble.	Thoughts Richard Linklater is one of my favorite filmmakers, so this could be a lot of fun.
