Last Week’s Results

In spite of themselves, Ender’s Game, Last Vegas and Free Birds posted rather unspectacular openings. Ender topped the week with just barely over $27 million, lower than the opening for Will Smith’s dud After Earth, yet this total is considered a success by some observers clearly not anticipating the film doing much better business with no big name stars on board (is Harrison Ford chopped liver?). Last Vegas did well, but not as well as it probably should have considering the subject matter while Free Birds was roasted alive in a marketplace with virtually no family-friendly entertainment.
