We have a tie for last week, our first. Between They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? and Out of the Past. Since I had no procedure in place for a tie, I’ve decided to break it myself and choose the film I would rather place in the queue. Now, in this case, I had to go with my secondary thought on how to select. Initially, I was going to choose the one that was available to view online. I have another project I’m working on that requires my queue, so one that I can watch in addition to the three in-house selections would have been ideal. However, since that’s not possible, and since I’m an Oscar enthusiast as well as a film critic, I have decided to choose the Oscar-nominated/-awarded film over the one not so honored. Therefore, I have added They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? to my queue today and will receive it next week to be reviewed that subsequent weekend and reviewed in The Morning After to be posted on August 16.

Before we get to this week’s vote, let’s give a reminder to those who didn’t participate in the first week (or who don’t remember): every week, I will be calling for suggestions of films to be added to my Netflix queue. Each person makes one suggestion and one alternate (in case I have seen one of your suggestions). The next week, when I call for new suggestions, we begin a one-week voting period to select the film to be placed immediately into my Netflix queue to be reviewed the weekend after (because I’ll already have my Netflix queue selections for the coming weekend). Then, you’ll find out what I thought in my weekly Morning After feature on Monday morning.

Here’s what you need to post today (and through next Wednesday):

  1. Below, please provide your suggestions to add to my Netflix queue.
  2. Next, please rate each of the following entries in order of preference. Item 1 will be most preferred, 2 next most preferred and so forth.
  • Barefoot in the Park (1967)
  • She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949)
