The festival circuit has been abuzz with recent releases and Toronto is the festival most insiders watch to see what could emerge as big Oscar contenders. We learned that Steve Jobs, Room and Truth could be contenders while other films fell quickly by the wayside like Freeheld, Legend and Stonewall may not be cut out for the race.
We now take a look at the landscape after the festival with an eye towards the films that are in competition but have not yet released. While we’re still two months away from critics telling us what they think are the best films of the year, these are our impressions of the Oscar race as it stands.
