The Seattle Film Critics have been on hiatus for more than a decade. With their inaugural return to the awards game, they have made some unusual selections. With two foreign films and a documentary in their Best Picture nominee slate they have definitely set themselves apart. A look at the remaining sees a mixture of commonplace selections alongside first-time and unusual references galore such as Logan Lerman in Best Actor, Kate Beckinsale in Best Actress, Kyle Chandler and John Goodman in Best Supporting Actor, Kate McKinnon in Best Supporting Actress and several other selections. It’s definitely worth a look for where it differs from the current conversation.
