As I mentioned, Monday, participation in this game is at an all-time low. We’ll go from week to week with no or one participants. It’s a lot of work to put these together, so I want to know if everyone wants to continue and where do we want to go from here?
I want this to be something fun that everyone wants to participate in, so tell me: what kinds of games do you think would be entertaining? Even if you haven’t taken part in Film Fun Friday before, this is your chance to direct the amusement.
What are your ideas?
We could include a trivia game where everyone posts a film-related trivia question and everyone tries to answer it.
We could do a type of storytelling game where one week we start a sentence and everyone adds one sentence to the story. It could be about almost anything?
We could do the “City Game” but with movie titles (where one person leads with a title and the next person takes the last letter of the title and provides a movie starting with that letter).
We could do the Destination Game where each week, I choose a city and everyone has to list one film that takes place in that city
Do we enjoy poster identification games? Do we like Six Degrees games? Do we like something else?
What do we want to do? I want this to be interactive and encourage participation. After all, only when we’re all having fun are we actually having fun. So, give me your ideas. Tell me your thoughts. Let’s turn this into a must-play kind of game.
I agree with Mike that the posters have become a bit obscure.
I like six degrees but I like doing them in my head. It’s easier with actors than it is with Oscar nominees from other categories. Sometimes I’ll just throw out two names that don’t seem connected at all, think about it for a minute or two and find a connection. You might try that. Just throw out the names of two actors at random rather than spend time researching connections.
That’s what I do. I’ve never actually figured out connections, just picked two people. Usually hit an older Oscar year and a newer Oscar year, sometimes choose people who are in films that seem the same or have played similar roles or are historically compatible (Haven’t done James Stewart/Tom Hanks yet, though)
I’ll play whatever, but the posters have been so obscure lately I haven’t even had a guess.
I like guessing lines from movies, naming 3 characters’ names from a movie and trying to guess it, the last letter to start another movie title game, and just plain trivia.
