Review: (#1, B) With a lot of empty space, it would be easy to dismiss this design and it’s also disappointing that they couldn’t fit Chloë Sevigny into the design. Still, its use of oblique angles and unusual balance makes the effort stand out strikingly in a sea of familiar aesthetics. (#2-#5, C) These character posters may favor each character but they are identical other than the background figure and their name. It’s a rather dull batch.
Trailer Rating: B / C+

Review: (#1, B) While the narrative is given just enough treatment to be understood, the twists and turns feel telegraphed and underwhelming. The performances look like they could be on the edge of laughable without dropping off the edge. It’s a poor cut to give that impression, especially with the talents referenced in the cast list.
(#2, C+) The first trailer was able to generate tension while setting up the plot well. This trailer tries mightily to avoid most of the plot, which makes the dialogue seem disjointed and unrelated. It’s ultimately a trailer that would make more sense after watching the film rather than before and that’s not going to help sell tickets.
Oscar Prospects:
Luca Guadagnino has some solid bona fides when it comes to acting nominations, so expect a few from this film. It could even be another winner in terms of broad Oscar acceptance.
