Review: (#1, C+) For audiences unfamiliar with Dr. Doom, this will either remind them of the stained glass of Doctor Strange’s sanctum or of the recent Frankenstein film aesthetic. It’s sufficient to get Avengers fans modestly interested.
Trailer Rating: B- / B- / B- / B-

Review: (#1, B-) Teasing your new movie a year in advance has some merit and letting the viewer know that one of their favorite characters is back is a benefit but the trailer is plodding without need and gives the viewer far too little information to get excited this far out.
(#2, B-) Continuing the father-looking-after-child concept from the previous trailer while also highlighting two prominent Avengers who some assumed would no longer be involved in the series, these trailers are trying to hype interest in the movie without giving the audience much to go on. I’ll give them credit for the countdown timer conceit but the quickness with which this second trailer comes out suggests an unsustainable pace for the marketing efforts.
(#3, B-) The first trailer told the audience they should expect a character we all thought was “retired.” The second confirmed the return of a character we all knew would be included. This one settles months of speculation that the X-Men would be re-booted into the current MCU and by focusing on original actors returning, original X-Men fans will be very excited to see their return. Still, it’s the same gimmick that’s already getting mocked online so I imagine they may wait a little longer before confirming other main characters will return.
(#4, B-) Now we’re combining multiple groups together. This time, it’s the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four. Why not give each their own trailer? This gimmick is wearing off fast. It’s been less than a month and they are already at four trailers. It’s simply not sustainable.
Oscar Prospects:
Visual Effects and Sound are likely the only two categories in which this film can compete.
