Review: (#1, C) The lower background reminds of the sword-and-sandal epics of the American cinema past but this is an otherwise static design that lacks depth and creative energy. (#2, C) The close-up poster design can hide an empty backdrop but it doesn’t add much in the way of interest or excitement. (#3, C-) This scene from the film might trigger interest in those who’ve seen the original films but it won’t drive engagement. (#4, C) What the purpose of this blood-spattered filigreed set pieces is unclear and might just be another poor attempt to draw in existing fans. (#5, C+) Going for something with a little more color variance, instead of the red-golden hues of the prior efforts, is a nice effect. Though it features a small number of scenes, few of which are interesting and none of which are easy to parse.
Trailer Rating: C- / B-

Review: (#1, C-) One or two Bollywood successes has led to an influx of pointless and derivative experiences and nothing is generally more derivative than taking two existing films and recutting them together for a theatrical showing. Not only does the narrative get no evocation in the trailer but the events seems targeted at existing fans rather than enticing potential new ones.
(#2, B-) While the first trailer was a pretty awful effort, this one does improve making the action seem more engaging. Unfortunately, it still feels like it wasn’t entirely necessary. What is the point of taking existing films, meshing them together, and re-releasing them in theaters. That hasn’t worked for American films but maybe it will for Indian ones?
Oscar Prospects:
None.
