Review: (#1, C) Dropped into a deep well of water, the yellow-green and red color scheme is hideously blended and there’s a lot of empty space that needs to be filled. Otherwise, it’s just a bit dull.
(#2, B) It could possibly have a bit more thematic relevance but it gets its point over sufficiently well, establishing the primary character and environment for his potential downfall and redemption. The wide array of colors fits in well with the different colors of money chips, which keeps it from feeling entirely overbearing.
Trailer Rating: B- / B+

Review: (#1, B-) An eclectic trailer that reminds one favorably of filmmakers like Darren Aronofsky and Yorgos Lanthimos, the narrative isn’t as coherent. The performances look decent but without understanding the film’s purpose, it becomes difficult to decide if it’s worth the effort.
(#2, B+) While the first trailer was a bit too confusing, this one nearly hits all the right marks. This design highlights some of the quirky, theatrical elements to the narrative but at least presents the story to the audience so they can know why they should be interested. It’s a difficult balancing act. There are moments that don’t quite work but this is about as close to the desired effect they could possibly get with a picture like this.
Oscar Prospects:
The film looks a bit too odd to be an Oscar contender though Edward Berger is in the Academy’s good graces so it’s still possible if a big hit with critics.
