Review: (#1, B-) Sights that would be familiar to Brooklyn/Brownsville natives might appeal to the one demographic that could find this film interesting. The art work is well designed though the lettering and its shadows fit poorly into the messier image. (#2, C) If the intention is to suggest the young girl is a prisoner of her environment, then it works. Otherwise it doesn’t make much sense, especially with the differing image qualities between upper and lower halves. The lettering also feels a bit too blocky, especially after the more vibrant font of the first design.

Trailer Rating: C

Review: (#1, C) When you center around a child character, it’s imperative to get a child who can emote and perform in ways the engage the viewer. None of that dynamic plays out in the trailer with crocodile tears and tedious interactions. It’s a narrative that needs to feel more compelling.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
