Review: (#1, B) What helps these designs is that they are relatively unique. While the format has been used in the past (usually with punk-themed features), it’s always refreshing to get something that feels new . This one has a problem with empty space but is otherwise interesting. (#2-#9, B) These character posters each have unique affectations, color schemes, and details, which make them stand out. (#10, B+) A derivation on the original design with the same unique feel and coloring. It stands out better than the first design because the colors aren’t as brash or abrasive and the background doesn’t feel as empty.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) Fans of Darren Aronofsky are used to the unusual. This film certainly looks more mainstream than films like Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, or The Fountain but there are some questionable choices thematically and irreligiously. The story doesn’t seem that interesting and while Austin Butler is modestly popular in the wake of his success with Elvis, there’s just not enough here for audiences to sink their teeth into.

Oscar Prospects:

Darren Aronofsky should always be considered a contender until he isn’t. This looks more mainstream than his usual fare, so it could have an easier time resonating with Oscar voters but I doubt it makes it very far.
