Review: (#1, C+) Perhaps once the film is seen, this buffalos running over a cliff concept will make more sense (though the tagline of “hindsight is 2020” aids the interpretation a little). It’s certainly striking and will draw the viewer in but it doesn’t help sell the film itself.
(#2, B) For a hand-drawn effort, this is top-notch. The actors look like themselves, the images present a lot of different aspects of the film itself, and the arrangement of images into a pleasing triangular design is a good choice. If only the lower half weren’t dominated by emptiness. (#3-#8, C) These character posters are simple and underwhelming. They simply take stills from the film and put them as close to the viewer as possible to hide the background deficiencies.

Review: (#1, C) There isn’t much to this trailer about the narrative and that might hinder who would have some interest in the film. As a reflection of a modern political landscape, the film does some work at solidifying that stance but the point of the film doesn’t come across well and looks almost entirely boring.
(#2, B+) The first trailer struggled to explain what the film was about. This trailer does a far better job and amps up the stakes between Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal, which will help the film find its audience. It doesn’t quite take a side but it suggests which direction the audience should favor.
(#3, C) This trailer reverts to the issues with the first trailer as in it barely tries to explain what’s going on, throws up actors we’re familiar with without giving them a chance to make an impression, and can’t seem to give the viewer something exciting to anticipate.
Oscar Prospects:
There’s some potential for this to be an Oscar contender but the trailer doesn’t give much hope.
