Review: (#1, C+) The toy from the trailer sits with minimal embellishment on an unknown surface. It ties in but doesn’t excite.

(#2-#3, C+) This pair of posters is largely the same with different figures in different positions and with a different background color. It’s rudimentary and underwhelming.

(#4-#7, C+) With the varying the position of the curtains adds some depth to each character poster with the myriad animatoronics in unique positions, the dullness of the design is slightly alleviated.

Trailer Rating: C / C+ / C / C

Review: (#1, C) The first film struggled similarly in trying to convey the film’s premise with lots of tepid jump scares and a confused narrative. I suppose a new trailer will be in the offing soon that makes the film look interesting rather than a hodge podge of wastefulness.

(#2, C+) The teaser did too little to excite the viewer and while this full trailer does better at exploring the narrative, there’s still something rather underwhelming about the affair. Fans of the first film are sure to be on board but it doesn’t do quite enough to bring newer viewers to the series.

(#3, C) The plot was better explained in the prior trailer and the horror is shoehorned into this latest one making its purpose questionable. The first film was popular enough that a sequel was inevitable but there’s little presented in this trailer that would excite existing fans better yet new ones.

(#4, C) Seemingly designed to entice fans of the video game, this trailer introduces “The Marionette” but never makes them seem as frightening as the various talking heads in it think that it will be.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
