Review: (#1, C+) For fans of the series, anything would be sufficient. From a design perspective, the effort is mediocre at best. The unappealing sky background doesn’t add much, the foreground character is poorly lit and stands at contrast to the light origin of the background. The villain’s pose is the most interesting element here but it just isn’t enough to sell this to anyone but devoted fans.

(#2-#14, C) Different shades of sparkles, different overlapping titling, and simplistic character models means these appeal to only fans of the original program and won’t expand beyond that reach. (#15, C+) The same simplicity as the other poster designs but with more characters though less background details. Its appeal is in that it presents all the figures in the film even if in the least pleasing arrangement possible. (#16, C+) Not much different than the first poster and while aesthetically detailed and surprisingly well blended, it’s simple and underwhelming otherwise.

Review: (#1, C+) Ostensibly, this movie is designed to get young fans of the source to the theater. That said, there’s some potential for getting access to a broader audience and this trailer does some serviceable work at doing that. The narrative is necessarily kid-friendly but the blend of animation and live-action is solid but the acting is tepid and the storyline is overly familiar. Some new fans might be obtained but not many.
