Review: (#1, C) There’s something unnecessarily bland about this design. It might tie into the film better than first glance but it’s not terribly exciting nor enticing. It’s well constructed and the blending is solid, especially with the bird inset in the lower right.

Trailer Rating: C / B

Review: (#1, C) For a biopic of Shakespeare, one that explores the purported influence on the playwright’s most famous play, Hamlet, there’s little dramatic tension, no sense of fun or excitement, and a general lack of dramatic tension or cohesion.

(#2, B) The first trailer didn’t do an adequate job shaking out the film’s premise but this second effort does a tremendous job putting forth both the love story and the tragedy and establishing all the necessary elements that will make the film popular with certain demographics. Unfortunately, few of those are the public as a whole.

Oscar Prospects:

Chloë Zhao’s latest film, a Shakespearean biopic, could be a major Oscar contender.
