Poster Rating: B-; D-

Review: While stylistically, this poster is more engaging, its reliance on two colors, black and gold only accentuate the lack of depth the film itself has.

Another placeholder/teaser poster that uses the video game’s symbology to entice the audience into catching the film. This paired with the trailer will do wonders, but alone, this poster is about as useful as bullet proof vest trying to stop a bullet to the brain.

Trailer Rating: C; C+

Review: If it’s not comic books, it’s video games. There has yet to be a great video game-to-screen adaptation, so we’ll likely have to continue waiting as this trailer suggests another Transporter or XXX type film, which will wow audiences, but leave critics relatively unimpressed.

Tattoos on the back of the neck seem to be a trend. I first mentioned XXX when I saw the teaser, but the though surfaces again as we see the same style of bald anti-hero hamming up the screen in an array of bullets and action. The fact that some of the plot seems like a rip-off of Dark Angel doesn’t endear the film to me.

Oscar Prospects:

Sure it looks stylistic, but there are plenty of other stylized films releasing this year, so I don’t expect Oscar to even take a first look at the pic.
