Review: (#1, B-) It’s a little subtle, using the family tree concept but it’s interesting. It’s also like a hide-and-seek design where you’re trying to find all of the little details in the picture. It’s striking but doesn’t take up enough space such that the empty white background starts overwhelming it. (#2, C+) Picking out a few of the moments form the trailer, this design doesn’t exactly carry forward the dark humor of the trailer and ends up feeling overly staged. (#3, C) One image from the trailer/poster #2 and trying to create a visual distinctiveness with the cloudy backdrop and the bonsai motifs. The end result doesn’t succeed as well as it wants to.
Trailer Rating: B- / B

Review: (#1, B-) Getting the concept across without giving things away is difficult and this first trailer, with its interesting pacing and aural beat, struggles to make the premise make sense. Audiences might not see much here to be intrigued by. (#2, B) The second trailer expands on the style of the first trailer while better conveying the film’s plot, though leaving some elements a bit murky still.
Oscar Prospects:
One of the lead contenders not just for a Best International Feature nomination but for a few others, including screenplay and Actor, possibly even Best Picture.
