Review: (#1, C+) It may create some energy but the angle is underwhelming and its reminiscent of Gravity but with stronger color selection. A wasted effort. (#2, C+) It may give the audience an idea that this is a space-set film and that Ryan Gosling is in it but the colors are dull, the Gravity connection persists and the lettering is underwhelming.

(#3, B-) From the earth to the son, it’s a somewhat striking design with perhaps too much empty, albeit appropriate, space. The alien/Gosling insert in the center has a different feel than the rest of the effort and that makes it more difficult to appreciate on the whole.

Review: (#1, B) A surprisingly robust first trailer that sets up the stakes and the situations for the audience while making it largely appealing. Some of the humor doesn’t land and the whole film looks a bit derivative but it’s a good start.

(#2, B+) A few bits of good humor and a more detailed introduction to the story, this trailer engages the viewer well and entices them into what will surely be an first quarter sci-fi hit.

(#3, A-) The first two trailers did a decent job establishing what the film is about and they continue to expand that here by revealing even more of the premise. That’s not always a wise goal when advertising a movie since it gives the audience over to wondering whether they should bother seeing it but there’s enough charm and amusement presented that this ultimately thwarts the typical decrease in quality one usually finds in third-time’s-the-charm trailers.
