Review: (#1, C) Hiding the killer behind a mask and then hiding the mask behind a poorly-cleaned window doesn’t an invention make. The dried blood aesthetic is familiar and underwhelming and the use of red titling misses an opportunity to shake things up.

(#2, C+) An obvious thematic design with the killer in the primary figure’s mind but the overused black-white-red aesthetic doesn’t add anything of value. (#3, C) The sale of new slasher films does require identifying and romanticizing the killer and while that sort of exists here, there’s not enough balance to the background to make it genuinely appealing even if we acknowledge the positive use of a yellow tinge rather than a horror traditional color scheme.

Trailer Rating: C

Review: (#1, C) There’s a film here that’s a thriller and one that’s a horror film and neither are adequately combined in this trailer. Which path it wants to go is difficult to assess and that will limit its potential risk. There’s no thrill of the kill for horror fans and no tease of intense action excitement for thriller watchers.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
