Release Date:

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “In a society where people stops dreaming to extend their lifespan, some dangerous individuals still dream, warping the fabric of time. We experience five dreams, for each of the senses, each chronologically representing a period of cinema.”

Poster Rating: C / C / C-

Review: (#1, C) The sleeping figure clawing a way out of the marble has no immediate narrative urgency and will not make sense outside of familiarity with the film itself. (#2, C) Having a melted wax bust is noticeable but the overwhelming red background adds nothing but excessiveness. (#3, C-) The design wants to evoke a sense of gothic horror but uses washed out colors and figures that aren’t easily identifiable unless you are familiar with the referenced film period and even then it doesn’t say a lot.

Trailer Rating: A-

Review: (#1, A-) When a trailer is this visually gorgeous, you stop and take notice. Although it might not appeal to a very broad demographic of viewers, it is nonetheless a compelling sight with its quasi-futuristic elements and dazzling cinematography.

Oscar Prospects:

While it’s not likely to be a crossover success, its lack of submission to the Oscars is also detrimental. That said, I could see a case for this film making the cutoff for the Best Cinematography category.
